Office romances occur very often and always are ever-present concomitants of all companies, offices and institutions. Human nature is very weak and is constantly exposed to different influences. Business communication is sometimes so tight, that it can transform to a private one. This is a law of life. You can never predict and realize when you cross the borderline and fall in love unnoticeably to yourself. Business communication occurs not among machines and robots but among usual people. Even if you pretend to be a robot at work, when you pretend that you think only about your current tasks and matters and try to convince yourself in it, it doesn't mean that you are immunized from falling in love. The first and foremost conclusion is that office romances are inevitable and it is impossible to struggle against them. Moreover, this sphere is so complicated and versatile that no harsh methods will work here. If a boss wants to control this problem, he/she must be very careful and prudent. He/she shouldn't try to remove the problem at all but try to reduce its influence on the overall efficiency of employees.
It is considered that an office romance is even more likely to happen than a resort one. What are the reasons for that? There are some of them.
First of all the very environment favours the emergence of an office romance. When people work together in a small room, see each other every day and spend much time together, they can't simply keep silence and avoid interaction. The very work environment will not allow them to avoid communication with each other. Besides, even if we imagine the situation, when everyone has his/her own occupation and doesn't need to communicate with others, again the absence of interaction is totally impossible as it is contrary to the human nature. People can be together and on their own simultaneously only for rather a short period of time, for example in public transport. But when you see the same people every day, even in case you are a very unsociable person, you won't keep silence forever. No matter how much time you need to resist your shyness or modesty, you will be involved in communication sooner or later.
Communication is not a mere fact. It is a long process, which has its stages, its speed and its development. It is sometimes extremely difficult to stop the process of relationships' development at a certain stage. They go on to develop and gradually invade those aspects of life which have nothing to do with the work itself. If you are going through an office romance, it doesn't mean that it is good or bad, it is an inevitable concurrent of your life of work. Don't find fault with yourself, don't be shy!
